The Popular line of switch machines include Atlas, Z-Stuff and Tortoise. Customers have requested special support for remote operation, LED indicators, relay control/implementation, signal activation/operation, etc. We like challenges and have additional capabilities not detailed here! If you need something not listed, just drop me an email (RoyzTrains@aol.com) and we may already have it!
Atlas Switch Control. We offer a panel mounted remote control for the Atlas Switch Machine as used in O Gauge (and others). It includes a PC board mounted below the panel with LED indicators for switch position along with actuating switch. Two wires needed to connect to each switch machine. This control operates in parallel with the actual Atlas switch machine. This approach resolves the hot switch machine experienced with other products!
Kits will include PC board, switch, and LEDs with current limiting resistors. ($33) Instructions included of course! The PC board has screw terminals for ease in connection and double sided foam backing for easy mounting. Photo of full kit follows. Can also order Controller with LEDs & Resistors on a PC board for a little more. ($36)

Switch Machine & Accessory Control
Different boards are available that can support switch machines and other activities. These can be actuated from a Z-Stuff switch machine or other logic input. (And limited AC signals too!).
The first board replaces the existing Z-2502 and eliminates all the typical problems of incorrect LED signals, dim LEDs, or driving relays. These are designed to mount behind the control panel with only the LEDs and pushbutton seen on the surface. Picture of one is shown below. Price is $15 each and they can be ordered to match the turnout size! If you also want to control Dward signals or other accessories at the same time you want the next product.

Accessory Control with Relays
A more complex board can directly drive Tomar Dwarf signals, other LEDs and a DPDT relay. The relay has adequate current capacity to operate mechanical signals, accessories and bulb type signals. Send request for application information manual to RoyzTrains@AOL.COM.
- Accessory Driver - LED Driver and DPDT Relay (2 amp) - $28
- Accessory Driver - DPDT Relay (2 amp) only - $24
- Quantity Discounts Available!!
These boards have also been used to drive, Lionel accessories, individual LEDs and control panel LEDs. More details in the instructions provided.
Having trouble with the Z-Stuff relay when actuated by the Z-2500? We have a solution for that too! Price $15, or Replace the Z-Stuff Relay with one of our relay boards and control signals, LEDs, and sections of rail in switch as the switch machine changes position!
Z-1000 Control

This controller kit replaces the Z-1002, but with no LED confusion, false readings, and can simultaneously operate multiple Z-1000 switch machines. This is more dependable than alternate methods due to the isolation buffer on our product! Panel mounted too! This controller has its own supply for LEDs and only receives a very small signal from the Z-1000. Photo of kit (sans LED board) to right:
Price Z-1000 Controller - As Pictured - 26; With option LEDs and resistors on PCB - $29
Quantity Discounts available.
The toggle switch is center off with momentary positions to throw the switch machine. Nice and clean installation requires drilling three holes in the control panel. The LEDs are positioned where you want them and the toggle switch can be mounted near the switch icon on the panel. This is available with controller board swtich, LEDs & resistors ($26), or with the LEDs & resistors individually mounted on PCBs ($29).
General Relay Control
Relays can be used to control power to track (potentially multiple different sources), signal control, and other applications. You can buy individual relays and hook them up yourself if you have the knowledge for your application. I choose to assemble three relays on a single board that will support multiple applications. Why relays for power control? It saves the cost of running larger wire between the control panel and point of use. It also enables the use of smaller and lower current (cheaper too!) power switches for the control panel. My layout uses conventional, DCS, and TMCC with no issues! With relay control of track power/selection, it can reduce other problems with the RF signals by providing a more simple power distribution. Ideal application is with a new layout, but can be used to retrofit an existing layout, or provide other control such as controlling track power or lights as a track switch is remotely operated.
Two relays and circuitry have a current capacity of 15A which is more than all but the custom transformers supply. The two relays may be used together to provide a DPDT relay. These two are normally configured to operate individually and either also initiates the third SPDT (standard configuration). The third relay supports a lower current capacity of several amps suitable for signal control (Z-Stuff, MTH, Lionel, etc) and work with the power control relay(s). Activation is by 12 VDC (Supply available separately). Also included on each board are LEDs to indicate if one or both of the power relays are energized; so much easier to know the status when crawling under the layout!
Each board may be ordered in four configurations.
1. Standard configuration allows either power relay to enable the signal relay - $26
2. One Power relay with signal relay (includes LED indicator) - $23
3. Two Power relays (no signal relay) and includes 2 LED indictors - $23
4. Dual track occupancy detection - $23

The picture shows the Standard Configuration (1. above) on the right and option 2 on the left. All versions incorporate LEDs to show when the relay is powered.
A non-standard configuration will allow one power source to lock out another power source with either controlling the signal relay (great for crossovers!). This is the same cost as the standard configuration above. Special order for an occupancy detection control. If you have other applications, let me know and I will work with you on a solution! Everything is explained in the instructions!
