Turntable Control

The turntable speed and direction controller was initially designed for the Millhouse Studios Turntable.  It is available as either a hand-held unit, or with the components for panel mounting as shown below.   It requires an input voltage of 12-22 VAC for normal operation.  This controller will work with any motor driven accessory requiring a voltage range of 1.5 VDC to 12 VDC.  The smaller voltage is the stall voltage for the motor drive and provides a very slow bridge movement allowing you to manually stop the bridge as the tracks line up.  Other Voltage Ranges are available upon request.

This capability is much more affordable than a fully indexed controller and easily allows for visual alignment of the tracks.  To date this item has been used on several Millhouse Turntables, a Bowser turntable, bridge controllers and other motor driven applications.

For an example of variable speed control and direction on a Millhouse Turntable:

Loading the player ...

The sounds heard are the motor and direction switch action.

The sequence shown is as follows:

  1. Switch to CCW, ramp up speed to max
  2. As bridge approaches track, reduce speed to minimum
  3. As bridge aligns, turn switch to stop

This controller will work with the Dallee Indexing electronics.  Instructions are included.

The heart of the control unit is a high efficient switching regulator.   This unit has also been used to operate a bridge with the potential for other applications requiring a wide range of DC output voltages.  Got an application?  Drop a line and find out how we can help!

Other output voltage ranges are available on request.  Contact us for further information at royztrains@aol.com May have your range at no additional cost!

The following pictures show the hand held unit (left) and the panel mounted unit (right).  Let us know if you need a different application.
